Game info BIG x Grayhound

BIG and Grayhound compete this Tuesday, November 1, in the Swiss round 3 of the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers Stage. After losing their last round against BNE, the BIG Germans will face the Grayhound Australians, packed with a big win against Cloud9. As it is not considered a knockout or qualifying round, Swiss Round 3 1-1 (1 win and 1 loss) is played in MD1 (best of a map) format. The match is scheduled to take place at 15:30 UTC.

How IEM Rio Major 2022 works

In principle, the IEM Rio Major 2022 is a competition that will bring together all the best teams in the world in search of the most coveted title in CS:GO (Counter Strike Global Offensive), the Major. The tournament will start at the Challengers Stage. In this stage, the games take place in the Swiss format. That is, the winners face each other, and the losers also face each other. In the next phase, called Legends Stage, the Challengers Stage qualifiers join the 8 Legends teams of the competition, which were the teams that passed with the best placement in the RMR.

Finally, the last phase is called the Champions Stage, which works like a knockout. The eight best teams face each other until the tournament's grand champion is defined. All games in this phase will be in MD3 (best of three maps). The IEM Rio Major 2022 is US$1.250.000, which will be distributed to the best place: first place will receive US$500.000, second place will take home US$170.000, and third and fourth will with a prize pool of $80.000 each.

At first, the BIG team appears in this match after losing the Swiss round 2 of the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers Stage against Bad News Eagles. Before analyzing the last round of the Germans, it is worth remembering how they performed in the debut of the Major. Facing Furia at vertigo, they started losing by a significant disadvantage (3×12), looking like the result was set. However, in the biggest comeback of the first round so far, they showed great resilience and had an impeccable counter-terrorist side, where they took the duel to overtime and managed to win on aggregate by 19×16.

In the last match, they faced the Bad News Eagles organization from Kosovo on the da.dust2 map and were surprised by their opponents' resilience. They opened an excellent advantage in the first half by being on the counter-terrorist side, winning the first half by 11×4. However, they didn't imagine facing an even more solid defensive side, where they couldn't win any more rounds and ended up defeated by 11×16.

On the other hand, the Grayhound team appears in this clash after winning Swiss round 2 of the IEM Rio Major 2022 Challengers Stage against Cloud9. Before analyzing the last round of the Australian organization, it is worth remembering how they performed in the debut of the Major. Facing OG in hell, they showed a low tactical level on the offensive side (terrorist) in the first half, starting at a considerable disadvantage (3×12). In the second half, they even tried to run after the loss, but it was too late, losing on aggregate by 6×16.

In the last match, they faced the Russian players from Cloud9 on the dust2 map and beat their opponents, leading to the tournament's biggest upset so far. In the first half, they started losing by 5×10, being on the terrorist side. However, they managed to draw a great reaction in the second half and tie the duel. In overtime, they got the better of it and finished their first win by 19×17 on aggregate.
